For people who like pictures :)

Look how high the mist rises!  You can feel that spray from really far away.  This pic is taken from our hotel room.

Niagara Falls is awesome! More pics under here )

For my vet friends:

Lots of greyhound people use Rescue Remedy--don't know how commonly you guys see it used.  They have a new chewable form called "pastilles" that contains xylitol.  Evidently the packaging doesn't make that clear (xylitol is listed in the ingredients, but packaging doesn't say not to give to pets).  Just a heads up.

Reservation Road (w/Mark Ruffalo and Joaquin Phoenix, not Revolutionary Road w/Kate and Leo): boooooring, OMG so very boring.  We watched a bit, then skipped to the end, just to make it stop.

My aunt sent me a letter today addressing me as Ms.  Not Mrs., not Dr., but Ms.  I love her, she's great, but, huh??

Slumdog Millionaire: excellent movie, loved it!
Charlie Bartlett: cute, worth the time
Married Life: dark comedy; not a bad film, but kind of...odd
Curious Case of Benjamin Button: liked it a lot, worth seeing just for the makeup
Run Fatboy Run: characters aren't super well developed, but pretty funny, made us laugh.

From the school newspaper:

"In a study on US medical student burnout and suicidal ideation, about 50% of >2000 students surveyed at 7 US medical schools reported burnout.  11% of those students said they considered suicide within the past year."

This would have seemed VERY high to me before veterinary school.  Now it seems very LOW, and I have since been surprised that more medical/veterinary/other professional students don't commit suicide.  (And thank god they don't.)

How fortuitous that tonight, of all nights, one of our neighbors is playing loud music and running up and down the outside stairs.  I couldn't sleep even if I wanted to.  Which I don't.  Wound healing, hemostasis, and genetic disorders down, immune system pathology to go*.

Overall, this apt has been great, so I can't complain.  We only share actual walls with our upstairs neighbor, and they are usually pretty quiet (knock on wood)...either that, or the walls are particularly well constructed.  The only real problem has been the outside stairs, which share our bedroom wall, so that can get loud.  We put up some soundproofing, which helps, and I've started wearing earplugs at night.  (Come to think of it, could earplug use explain the tinnitus I've had for 2 weeks? hmmm)

* The first lecture (of 4) of immune system pathology was a trip.  It was our entire vet school immunology class reviewed in 1 hour.  Made me glad I like immunology and had paid attention the first time around!

I was friended on Facebook today by someone from high school that I didn't recognize at first, so I pulled out a yearbook...

and realized that I barely remember high school...

is that weird?

I'm only 33, too early for my memory to be slipping this much!

Veterinarian is just a fancy word for animal doctor. Not a prestigious career or anything silly like that.  ;)

Which reminds me of a pet peeve: pronouncing it "vet-rin-air-yan."  The word has 6 syllables kthx.

I'm not really a foodie, so haven't tried a lot of these, and had to wiki a bunch of them.

The Omnivore's Hundred is a list of foods the gastronome Andrew Wheeler thinks everyone should try at least once in their lives.

The rules of the meme:
1) bold those you have tried
2) strikethrough those you wouldn't eat on a bet
3) asterisk any items you'd be interested in trying but have not yet.

Ooooh, I just figured out my digital camera takes video too!!  Expect videos of: fireflies, and Blizzard acting like one of his legs is missing b/c I put--gasp!--a bootie on his sore foot.  (This is actually much more amusing than it sounds.  At least, the neighbor across the street who saw it happen, thought it was hilarious.)
» Go away, Loveseat! You cannot live with me anymore!
At the garage sale, I sold 2 bookshelves, a dresser, and a bunch of smaller stuff.  No interest in the loveseat.

After sending out an email to the lowerclassmen, I sold my 4-poster bed frame, 2 tables, lawnmower (much interest in this!) and the dog kennel.  No interest in the loveseat.

Ad on craigslist = no interest in the loveseat.

Calling thrift stores to ask about donating it = no interest.

The loveseat has been sitting in my driveway with a FREE sign on it since last night.  No interest.

What do I have to do to get RID of this thing??  It's a nice loveseat!  Sheesh.
» Iron Man
Oh my GOD, Robert Downey Jr. is smokin!  After his junkie days, it was a bit surprising to see how good he looks now.

A 102 degree fever is no big deal right? (yeah, rhetorical question)

I had a flu shot this year.  This effing sucks.  Have barely been out of bed in 2 days.

On the plus side, I am on vacation next week, so at least I won't have to make up a rotation.

So I'm sitting in radiology holding a cat, waiting to see what else we need for him.  He was kinda squirmy at first, then turns around, looks deeply into my eyes and starts purring.  I'm thinking, awwww, we're bonding!  So sweet!

Yeah, no.  He was peeing on me. That look on his face was a look of relief, not love.  :P
